Cornet Obolensky auction arouses international interest

100 percent sales success at Westphalian Youngster Auction

Münster: For the third time, the Westphalian Stud Book organised an online auction for youngsters in cooperation with the Zhashkiv Stud. 15 young mares were offered for sale. Almost all of them carry the valuable blood of the successful Cornet Obolensky in the first generations of their pedigrees. 100 percent of the horses offered found a new owner this evening. The most expensive offer was a daughter of Comme il faut NRW/Godolphin, which was knocked down for 40,000 Euros.

Cornet Obolensky was highly successful in the advanced level courses of this world under the saddle of Marco Kutscher. His breeding performance is just as outstanding as his sporting success. His offspring shine in advanced level show jumping classes. Above all his son Comme il faut NRW, who celebrated the highest successes with Marcus Ehning in the saddle. Both are owned by the Zhashkiv Stud in the Ukraine. The blood of the grey stallion is in great demand all over the world. This was shown once again at the Youngster Auction of the Westphalian Stud Book. In cooperation with the Zhashkiv Stud, which owns Cornet Obolensky and Comme il faut NRW, an online auction took place this evening. 15 unridden two-year-old mares, all bred and owned by Zhashkiv Stud, were up for sale.

With a hammer price of 40,000 Euros, the head number 2 Crema Catalana leads the price structure. The daughter of Comme il faut NRW/Godolphin descends from the world-famous dam line of Leonore. Clinton, who was highly successful with Dirk Demeersmann, also comes from this line. This chestnut mare will be introduced to equestrian sport in Switzerland in the future. The second most expensive mare will remain in Germany. Kiss me by Kannan/Clinton was the last horse at the auction and cost 26,000 Euros. Her dam is a half-sister to two internationally successful show jumpers.

All 15 horses offered found a new owner this evening. Four of them cracked the 20,000 Euro mark. On average, the customers invested 14,733 Euros in their young show jumping talents. The Westphalian Stud Book thus achieved a turnover of 221,000 Euros. The bids on the young mares were received from all over the world. In the end, seven horses were knocked down to customers outside Germany. "It was very important for us to support our friends from the Ukraine in these difficult times! After we successfully helped Cornet Obolensky and Comme il faut NRW out of the country this spring, it was always clear to us that we would also help with the sales of other horses. When we were notified that that the mares were on their way to Germany, we did everything to implement this auction spontaneously. We are more than pleased that this auction has ended so successful!" said auction manager Thomas Münch.

The traditional Westphalia Week begins tomorrow in Münster-Handorf. Six days in the under the sign of Westphalian horse breeding are scheduled with sport and show. On Friday and Saturday the great foal auctions will take place. Bids can be submitted both online and live on site.
