Jumping horses in a class of their own
For the first time two champion stallions

Münster: The last part of the Westphalian main licensing 2020 is over. The jumping stallions also presented themselves in top form in the last two days. Of the round 30 stallions presented, 19 were licensed and three were awarded the premium title. Two were celebrated as the champion stallions at the end. The modified second free jumping was well received by all.

For the first time, the Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch e.V. selected two jumping champions at the end of the two licensing days. The first was head number 51, a dark bay stallion by Arezzo VDL/Cantos (breeder: Lufting J.O.H., Netherlands; exhibitor: Mathieu Beckmann, Wettringen). Thomas Münch, provisional breeding manager, commented: "A stallion who always had the upper pole in mind and never lost his heart.“ Numerous licensed stallions as well as offspring successful in competitions descent from this dam line. The second champion stallion carries the head number 63 by Cornet Obolensky/Baldini II (breeder and exhibitor: Qatar Armed Forces, Zülpich). His dam has been talked about a lot. She is no less than the mare Bella Donna, who was successful in international advanced level competitions under the saddle of Meredith Michales Beerbaum. Among their greatest successes are their participation in the 2012 Olympic Games in London and their victory in the Nations Cup in Hickstead. "A stallion that still appears youvenile, with great reaction and a lot of ability with overview and caution - Bella Donna sends her regards," Thomas Münch summarized the performance of the brown. The Reserve Champion Stallion with head number 64 is also a son of the much sought after Cornet Obolensky. Franka Zanetti from Italy bred the gray out of a dam by Canturano. The typey stallion convinced the commission in all parts with his quality.

The jumping stallions also showed up first on the triangle course Tuesday morning. This was followed by a free jumping test in the usual form with a free jumping grid. On Wednesday morning there was a novelty in free jumping. In the second presentation the candidates for the licensing presented themselves only over a single jump. The new task was mastered by the stallions with bravura. A pilot project that was met with great approval. "The findings we have seen here today have given us, as the licensing commission, a lot of information about the quality of the stallions presented," Thomas Münch summarized.
